Is it a trend or is it a case of all things old are new again? At any rate, thanks to Madison Avenue West by Susanna Hamner for this nugget about the trend of WOM Marketing.
My take is that Buzz marketing, WOM marketing or Peer-to-peer marketing (whichever you prefer to call it) isn’t a trend but a realization that no matter what you sell, typically 80% of your revenue will be from referrals or word of mouth.

WOM is nothing new. The Bible is the best example of WOM, it’s a best-seller and it’s certainly not “new.”
